Hey everone! Happy Halloween! Spooky season is back amongst us, and honestly, I get more and more excited every year. I always regret that Halloween isn't as big of a holiday/party here in Belgium. We barely get any trick or treaters, for example, and lots of people don't really dare to go all out with their costumes. But if there's one thing I LOVE, it's playing dress-up. As a kid, I mostly enjoyed princess costumes (you know I love myself a good tiara), but right now, I tend to go a little more badass. My obsession right now is a good glam and gore combo, something that says 'fabulous' and 'about to eat your brains' at the same time. Ya feel me?

Last year was the first time I did a special Halloween facepaint in collaboration with a good friend om mine, Ellen, who actually has her own little bussiness, Bodypaint by Ellen. Since you guys liked the first one so much, I figured we could as well make this into a Happy Halloween bodypaint series! This year, I knew I wanted to take it to the next level, and put some special effects in there. After some brainstorming, I came up with the idea of a mermaid inspired look. To add to the gorey part of the look, Ellen and I thought it would be cool to make it look like this fierce mermaid just got caught by a lost fish hook.
To be honest, I didn't think things were gonna work out as well as they did. And credit is due where credit is due: I did not have a lot to do with this all. Yes, I kinda came up with the concept, but that's about it. I gave Ellen complete carte blanche, told her what my vision was and let her do her thang. I think she must be one of the most talented people I know, the way in which she always takes an idea/a look to the next level is just amazing. I love the combination of textures and techniques in this look: the pearls, the scale pattern and of course the shredded skin with the hook... I'm obsessed! Or should I say I'm HOOKED? Get it? GET IT?

I wanna let the look speak for itself because I think the pics say it all, and I guess all there's left to say is: Happy Halloween guys! And remember, overfishing kills! *drops mic*

Face: Bodypaint by Ellen (She rocks my world, don't forget to check out her other work!)

What look is your favourite so far? Last year's or this one? Let me know!
Thank you for reading!
